Installation Interrupted when installing Accounts Business 2014

This is a problem some Windows 7, Server 2008 and 2012 users may experience. There are a couple of causes of this error with the principal one being related to the Print Spooler. Having an earlier version of Reckon Accounts Business or QuickBooks installed may also cause the problem.
There are two ways of overcoming this problem:
Stopping and Restarting the Print Spooler
Installing in Selective Startup Mode
Copy the installation disk to a folder on your C-drive:
Switch to Selective Startup:

Windows Home Edition can log in as the Built-In Administrator by:
To install QuickBooks
[Windows Home Edition: turn off the built-in administrator by typing: net user administrator /active:no ]
You may delete the installation folder from your C drive.

There are two ways of overcoming this problem:
- Stop and then start the Print Spooler before installing
- Install in selective startup mode.
Stopping and Restarting the Print Spooler
- Click on the Start button and type Services.msc into the search box. (Windows 8: just type Services into your Services Screen then click on the Services search result.)
- Scroll down the list to Print Spooler;
- Right-click it and select Stop (take note of any dependent services linked to the Print Spooler when stopped. Care: do not select Restart);
- Right-click the Print Spooler again and select Start;
- Close the Services Window;
- Install Accounts Business 2014;
- Open Accounts Business 2014 and Activate;
- Confirm that Accounts Business opens and closes properly;
- Restart the dependent services of the Print Spooler as noted in 3 above;
- Click on the Start button and type Services.msc into the search box;
- Scroll down to the first dependent service noted in 3 above, right-click it and select Start;
- Repeat for all dependent services;
- Close the Services Window.
Installing in Selective Startup Mode
Copy the installation disk to a folder on your C-drive:
Switch to Selective Startup:
- Click the Microsoft Windows Start button, select Run and type: msconfig. (Windows 8: press: Windows + R key on the keyboard and type: msconfig in the Open box and click OK.);
- In the System Configuration Utility, click the General tab, and then select Selective Startup;
- Select the Load System Services checkbox and clear the Load Startup Items checkbox;
- Click the Services tab, locate Windows Installer and make sure it is ticked;
- Click Hide all Microsoft Services checkbox at the bottom of the window;
- Click the Disable all button to clear all selected services;
- Click OK. The System Configuration message window appears.

Windows Home Edition can log in as the Built-In Administrator by:
- Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories;
- right click Command Prompt and left click Run as administrator;
- to turn on the built-in administrator, type: net user administrator /active:yes
To install QuickBooks
- In Windows Explorer, go to your installation folder on C drive;
- Right-click on setup.exe and select Run as Administrator;
- Follow the prompts to complete the installation;
- Launch Accounts Business 2014, open the sample file and activate.
[Windows Home Edition: turn off the built-in administrator by typing: net user administrator /active:no ]
You may delete the installation folder from your C drive.
