Our stock was put into the item list as non inventory by the nearest Reckonaccounts accountant. We said as it was put in that we will be starting proper inventory in december. We have been told now that we'll have to input every item again and re-edit discounts etc. Is there a better way?

    Hi Glenn,

You can actually edit your Non-Inventory Part item and change the Type to Inventory Part.

Could you please elaborate more about re-editing discounts? I'm not sure what you're referring to?

    Cheers,

    Jason

    Hi Glenn,

You can edit and change the type from "non-inventory" to "inventory" if the item has even if it has already been used in a transaction.

You will need to manually adjust each item as there is no magic way of changing them all in one go.

Changing an item from "non-inventory" to "inventory" cannot be reversed, so you need to be sure that it is what you want.

When you change the item type, an inventory adjustment transaction will automatically get created.

It might be worth looking at price levels for discounting. I only use it is non-inventory (service) items but you can setup percentage or actual dollar figure discounts across all your items and then apply a price level to a customer, or use multiple price levels depending on how important a customer is... Or even run your own retail outlet / eBay store / alongside wholesale etc. BTW Reckon- two suggestions on price levels: 1: add an inactive checkbox filter to the price level editor screen and 2: we use memorized transaction template a lot... If a template has been created using a price level and later that price level is altered or the pricing item behind that price level is altered it would be great if that prompted the user to update the memorized transaction as well.
