Invoicing app compatible with Reckon Accounts Hosted

I've been using accounts hosted for years and was excited about Reckon One hoping it would be a very simple platform that my husband could use on job sites to issue invoices and have them synced to our reckon hosted at the same time.....no such luck. It's an entirely separate platform... Reckon how about creating something like this in the future for those of us who want a simplified invoicing system for staff to use onsite but still want to use Reckon Hosted as our accounting platform.....?

Hi Joanna. I don't think it was ever envisaged the Reckon One would integrate with hosted. Certainly I have never been under this impression and I have been using Reckon for nigh on to 16 years. They are different technologies. Since the sdk has been released for Hosted it is possible a invoicing module may be developed by a third party. I don't believe it is part of the Reckon roadmap

Hi Joanna,

Welcome to the reckon community.
Yes Reckon One is a separate solution , however if using Reckon Hosted you do have the ability to access your software on a mobile device, your Husband can invoice when on job-sites on the fly using a tablet so there is no need for a second solution

Hope this helps

Kind Regards
Kay

Hey Joanna, as Hosted is essentially online access to the desktop product, syncing with the current Reckon App is not possible. The Reckon App connects with our Modular online product Reckon One. Kevin's and Kay's suggestions are the best way to go about this scenario at this point in time. We understand that mobility is important to users and providing access to Hosted from an app could well be possible in the future.

You are all assuming my husband is computer literate......I was hoping for a simple invoicing-only option for him to navigate without stress and within his capabilities. Thanks for your replies. I will live in hope that a solution will be available for us at some point in the future.

Hi Jo. Well its probably not an unwarranted assumption in this day and age. The tablet solution works for plenty of my clients and they aren't all tech heads. One guy spends probably ninety percent of his time out in the field doing heavy concrete cutting. He uses the ipad for msdss and for project and resource planning as well as estimating and invoicing. It has revolutionised the way he does business and cut his paper work drastically.

I'll introduce the idea gently to my set-in-his-ways tradie husband.  Thanks again for all of your help.  I think the Hosted platform might be a little too daunting for him but you never know...he might surprise me.
There's always a concern that he will go to other areas of hosted and inadvertently cause some headaches for me - limiting his access to invoices only would avoid this scenario.  Thanks again everyone

Hi Joanna,

You do have the option of setting him up a separate user giving him permission to only access what you think he needs to have access to.
Baby steps for those merging to a big change :-)

Jo that's the correct approach. The security in Reckon is very customisable. I reckon you won't regret it

Joanna you mention:
I will live in hope that a solution will be available for us at some point in the future.
Well there will be shortly! I just had the solution pop into my head! Really should have been fresh in my mind as we spoke about it at the conference.

Reckon Pay - This is a service/app which is coming soon. When I was in the presentation and Kevin was asking plenty of great questions the first thing I thought of was this is perfect for tradies! (see tweets and images).

There will be two options the app which you can use as a simple POS system and make transactions, and hardware and app, which offers a mobile eftpos terminal. From memory I believe the app will link direct to Reckon One but there will be an export file for Hosted/Desktop. As time progresses I will clarify all this again. :)

There's a nice mobile invoicing solution that integrates with desktop QuickBooks (Intuit).
called invoiceASAP

Maybe Reckon can find out if they are interested in integrating with Reckon Accounts (desktop/hosted)

Chandra nice work. Keep me in the loop.
Yes, i will, Kev  we will be offering free trial for all Partners and APS, for their own use only for demo purposes to your clients. We are thinking of giving FREE  to 1 user to the clients, unlimited use of the app.

Joanna,

Looks like Reckon made something useful for you

Reckon Invoices live for Android Phones!

It may do the job for your husband on-the-road.

It is however a stand-alone invoicing app that does not integrate with any desktop or hosted product.

Only for android and does not integrate, sounds a little useless to me. SORRY

This really should be available given the "mobile enabled"... ahem 'feature' which is on the homepage. Being able to log into a hosted machine via a web browser is not mobile enabled. Its clunky and frustratingly slow to use. I enjoy the reckon features for my business but logging into a remote pc is one of the least enjoyable aspects of this product.

Reckon should invest back into its community with a standalone app that is capable of running offline and then automatically synching with the hosted account once online.

Hi Adam I couldn't agree more.
I'm a Reckon professional partner since 1998, and am really struggling recommending Reckon Hosted when my clients need to invoice on the go but at the same time want an awesome package like Reckon Hosted. By no means do I like Xero and would take Reckon Hosted over Xero any day, but at least they are innovative and try and improve their software all the time. I feel like Reckon has released 2 half arsed software's like Reckon One which is difficult to recommend after knowing what Reckon Hosted does, and Reckon Invoices which only works on Android and doesn't integrate with anything. At least Xero can convert data from MYOB and Quickbooks, but Reckon can't even get Hosted, One and Invoices to talk to each other. I hope Reckon does something about this before it's too late.
