Items - inventory

I currently add all my inventory manually one by one. Is using the excel spreadsheet easier and is there a fact sheet on how to do it somewhere?

Hey Lori, can you clarify what you are trying to do within Hosted with Inventory? Is your aim to create inventory tracking of your items?

    Hi Lori,

There is no mechanism in place within the software to allow for the import of an Excel spreadsheet XLS, XLSX or CSV file in order to adjust inventory item quantities.

You would need to make use of the Inventory Adjustment function within the Reckon Accounts Hosted program.

    Click on the Suppliers menu

    then Inventory Activities

    then Adjust Quantity/Value on Hand

One possibility is to  restore your data file to desktop version, and use automation tool to import your stock in bulk then once done , upload it to hosted version.
the exercise is worth if you have huge stocks.

Hi Mirko,  I am just trying to find out if it is easier to add (and/or increase prices) multiple inventory items via excel or is it best to add them one by one.  We are a lighting company and have many suppliers with a huge amount of inventory items and I'm hoping that we can make the process quicker. I don't want to adjust quantities. thank you!

Lori, this new explanation you've given as to what it is you are doing makes more sense.

Adding new inventory items and changing prices can be in different ways depending on your level of comfort with Excel.

I've used the built-in Excel import function before to bring in new Items into a data file. It should also be able to let you change prices (though I've not tried that).

    Click on the File menu
     then Utilities
     then Import
     then Excel Files...

(Click the Help button for more explanation)
The products Help system would have enough information to enable you to make use of this function.

If your suppliers provide you with their product list in Excel format, you should be able to 'map' which columns in the spreadsheet match the item data fields in Reckon Accounts.

The main issue is that in the Hosted platform, there is no Excel installed.

You need the local copy of Reckon Accounts Enterprise installed on your own local computer. (You need to ask Reckon to provide you with that, which is included as part of your Hosted account.)

All of those Excel and Reckon Account import and mapping need to take place on your local computer.
