Using QB Plus 2010/11 am entering journal entries from a huge list the accountant sent. All balances but can't save - error message says "cannot use more than one A/R or A/P account in the same transaction". Am not an accountant but can't see anything wrong. Can anyone please help? Am stuck on that screen - leaving it loses all the data I've inputed!!!

Hi.  Its because you are trying to put in a journal that contains both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.  Put one of the entries to a Suspense account (type bank) and then put in a second journal to take it out of Suspense and put it into the correct account.  This will leave Suspense at 0 but you'll get the journals to work.

    Hi there

In a general journal entry you can only post to Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable once.  Run back up through your journal lines and see the ones that are going to either of these accounts and take the lines out of the journal and save the journal just with one of them and the remaining lines in it and then do additional separate journals for each other time you are posting to either of those accounts.

    Good luck :)

a problem you may have is that you are probably posting to a control account but not to a actual debtor/creditor a/c and you may not be balancing. you should check with your accountant as to his intent
