Manual Bank Feed in New Reckon One. Unallocated transactions

I am having problems with Manual Bank Feeds in New Reckon One. After I allocate transactions and click ok, they appear on both the allocated and unallocated tabs. This makes it confusing. My logic tells me somewhere that once allocated, the transaction should completely disappear from the "unallocated tab". This means that when I go to reconcile, I have found that I have sometimes allocated transactions twice. I then have to go and delete the transactions. I am trying to work around this problem. This does not happen on the older version. Is any one else having that issue, and is there a way to fix it. It does not appear to happen for transactions with a Linked bank feed.

Yes they have not got the manual feed right at all, no way to match transaction other than rules. right click 'IGNORE' is the only way around it.

A real task to work with.

Why they haven't got 'Allocated' Unallocated' side by side so you can see whats allocated and whats not is beyond me, lack of thought.

You need to go back to Day-toDay >> buying or selling depending on the transaction to delete it. Also the manual feed will reload all transactions that you that you previously entered, so be careful. Why this section was released to the public unfinished/untested is a joke.

Thanks for your suggestions Tim and Ruth. I have passed your great suggestions to our product management team to review.

Thanks Tim.  I found in the old version that when you click to select all the entries.  You can delete the lot.  I'm going with that & starting again!!!

Mirko, that button isn't in the new version.  Could be handy too!! :)

Is there anyway of getting rid of the transactions?  400 transactions (full year) keep heading over to unallocated.  It's becoming painful to sort through them all.

Not that I know of Ruth. Even if you allocate them and then delete them, they will reappear again as unallocated. It is increasingly frustrating for me as well.

Hi guys,

I have spoken to Reckon about the issue raised in the first post on this thread & have an update to share with you.

The issue where the 'Unallocated' tab shows previously actioned transactions for manual uploads.

So for example:
1. Day To Day (menu) > Banking > Select/view the relevant bank account
2. Import a bank statement (QIF or CSV) via the manual upload option
3. The 'Unallocated' tab in the banking screen shows the transactions you have just imported
4. Action one or more of these transactions

Result: Actioned transactions are moved out of the 'Unallocated' tab, into the 'Allocated' tab & show a default status of reconciled.

The issue where actioned transactions were reappearing in the 'Unallocated' tab is now fixed for any transactions that you now action moving forward.

Yes it does work.

However, you cannot match existing transactions so you have to 'ignore' the transaction.

Major hassle
 - if your using invoices & payments.
 - if your using bills & payments.
 - if your using a 'cash on hand' bank account then transfer it to a bank account once banked.
 - if your paying multiple payee (via online banking) which result in a lump sum on your account.
(this type of bank transaction has to be ignored in reckon one so you can allocate the each payee)
 - if your doing any transactions in a bank account prior to the manual upload.

All ignored transaction reappear in unallocated. The upload will never be marked as completed.

Nice to know I'm not the only person having this issue. Was up to 3am last night adding in and doing transfers between accounts only to do a report to discover that it had actually doubled everything up.

Hi guys,

Just an update on this thread. With today's Reckon One update, you can now match unallocated transactions against allocated transactions & also delete transactions directly from the allocated tab (reconciliation screen).

Here's a quick summary...

The unallocated tab for a bank account shows imported transactions that have yet to be actioned/allocated. These transactions may have been imported via a bankfeed, QIF file or CSV file.

Previously Reckon One auto matched unallocated transactions against transaction rules. Now Reckon One also auto matches unallocated transactions against allocated transactions in the bank account.

Note: If an unallocated transaction matches both an allocated transaction & also a transaction rule, the allocated transaction match takes priority.

When a match is found, the unallocated transaction shows a status Existing matched. Clicking OK removes the unallocated transaction from the unallocated tab. If the allocated (matched) transaction was previously unreconciled, it’s now marked as reconciled.

If you hover the mouse cursor over the status Existing matched, a tool tip will appear giving you more information about the match.

Here is an example of a tool tip relating to a transfer match

Here is an example of a tool tip relating to a receipt match

Here is an example of a tool tip relating to a payment match

The matching process uses the date & amount information of the unallocated transactions to check for matches against the allocated transactions (receipts, payments & transfers) in the bank account.

Reckon One first checks for a match on the same date. If no match is found, Reckon One then checks 1 day either side of the transaction date.

Example:

The unallocated tab contains the following transaction

Date: 01/07/2015

Amount: $50.00 (money in)

1. Reckon One checks for a match on the 01/07/2015 for $50.00 (money in)

2. If no matches are found, Reckon One checks for a match on the 30/06/2015 for $50.00 (money in)

3. If no matches are found, Reckon One checks for a match on the 02/07/2015 for $50.00 (money in)

In the scenario where a match is found & the allocated (matched) transaction is dated either the day before or the day after the unallocated transaction, if the user accepts the match, the allocated transaction retains its date.

In the scenario where an unallocated transaction has multiple matches for a single date, the first match will be used. More advanced matching & searching functionality will be added to the application at a later date that will allow you to manually search & choose a specific match.

In the scenario where an unallocated transaction has a match but the match isn’t relevant. You can action the transaction manually using the action option.

Regarding the deletion of transactions from within the allocated tab (reconciliation screen).

When you hover the mouse over a transaction row/line, the delete option "X" is available on the right section of the applicable row/line.

Regards,
Scott.

Hi guys,

Just an update on this thread. Today's Reckon One update (24th March 2016) includes an enhancement to the banking area. You can now delete imported bank transactions which haven’t yet been allocated or matched.

To delete an imported transaction, view the New tab (previously named Unallocated) for the applicable bank account, hover the mouse cursor over the transaction that you want to delete & click the X icon located in the right section of the transaction.

Regards,
Scott.

I don't get it, sorry. My columns are missing the "status" one, and why would I delete imported unmatched/unallocated transactions? I would prefer to delete the matched and allocated ones from my list so that I don't accidentally re-allocate (as complained about previously)?

Hi Christina,

The screen shot on this thread which shows the 'Status' column was from an earlier version of Reckon One. The banking area has had a few enhancements since then & the screen has changed as a result.

The Allocated tab (which shows transactions already saved in the book) & the New tab (which shows imported transactions that have yet to be actioned... i.e. matched to an existing transaction, allocated as a new transaction or deleted) both have the deletion functionality.

Previously only the Allocated tab had deletion functionality & the New tab didn't.

The following two threads will provide you with some more information regarding the recent changes to the banking area.

The following thread will provide you with some information regarding how matches work & a scenario of why the deletion option is needed in the New tab
