Andrew....  good points.   plus, perhaps the choice of operating system, office suite version and browser selection is being sought here.

Well, the reason I put this in, is because I'm picking up a new laptop for a client tomorrow, who wants to run MYOB and Autocad LT 2016, so we chose to get hold of a Toshiba  R50 unit that comes with licence for Win 8.1 (eligible for Win10), but also comes with the complete set of proper drivers and a Win7 Pro 64-bit downgrade DVD so that we can run all the relevant software to suit their existing and known business preferences.

I reckon this would be a good strategy to allow people to have their cake and eat  it too.   .... ie:  enjoy what is known to work for the scenario they are in,  PLUS,  if they are interested in this free Win 10 strategy, they have that as well.  That's a good win-win outcome.

That's all I was driving at here, and yes, I agree much more info is needed, but setting the scene of what all the configuration options to consider is hopefully alerting the forum user to think about the aspects of their business/needs are for us to comment better.

But as you say, Andrew, we have little to go one with such a brief subject matter.  For all we know, the horse has bolted, and this question is already about a laptop that has already been purchased! ...  Who knows?  Let's see....

    Late night, sorry!

    Cheers

Yes, downgrading to Win 7 Pro 64bit on the R50.

Thanks for all your comments. The main point I forgot to state was my QB is on DVD and my new laptop doesn't have a DVD player. I don't have reckon support so they probably wont help me with another installation medium.

    Jackie.

My suggestion would be to consider a low cost USB based DVD player, available from many local computer outlets,  or  copy your DVD to a USB stick on a colleague's PC.
