old file doe not exist

I was doing the tax update 2016.
And when it said " updating QBDBMgrN.exe.'
There came up the box "Old File does not exist. Unable to apply patch. Program not updated.'

We've got another comupter, it was successful to do the update/

    Hi John.  Did you follow the specific instructions of closing down your computer before applying the update and closing down any possible running tasks as listed in the instructions?

    Hi John,

    I've had a word with our Support team in regard to what you've experienced and they are on the same page as what John Graetz has mentioned above.
    It's crucial to close down Reckon Accounts and ALSO the running services in the background ie. open your Task Manager and close down any running services associated with the program.

    Do you encounter the same error upon terminating the background services and running the update again?

    Hi Rav

    I followed the intruction and nothing worked.

    Then I used the program and features under the control panel, just to repair the main program and it worked.

    So problem solved.
