Accumulation of Personal Leave

At the end of 2014, I set up our personal leave in Reckon Accounts 2014 so it clicks over to 0 hours on Jan 1st on every new year.

As seen by the image below, I had ticked the 'reset' box and put the month and day for the year to begin.

Unfortunately, this didn't seem to work. When I did the first payslip of 2015, the hours had continued from 2014 even though I had set it up to be 0.

Could anyone shed some light on why it didn't click over to 0? I had to manually change everyone's personal leave hours.

Thanks,

    From the Fair Work Act

"An employee’s entitlement to paid personal/carer’s leave accrues progressively during a year of service according to the number of ordinary hours worked, and accumulates from year to year. "

If they haven't used the full amount then it carries over; this is just in case they get real sick and they have accumulated it up.

Kellie, from a technical stand point, it can be done - Set Accrual Period to "Start of Every Year" and leave the rest as is...

From a Legal/Accountancy perspective I cannot comment, Charles as an Accountant would be better placed to make such comments. Thus, based on Charles' comments, you may wish to discuss this with your Accountant.

    Hi Kellie,

Charles is completely correct, you should not be resetting the leave.

You will need to go back and calculate their correct leave entitlements and re-enter them back in.

    Kind regards,
