It appears that if the file name has an underscore in it ( Reckon Accounts does this when you select the option to add the date to the backup file ) then it cannot find the file to rename. If the filename is just QDATA or similar it can rename it
However now when you rename you lose ALL historical share data, except for the past few days.

    Hello Wayne,

Thank you for using Reckon Account Community.

    Question:
Why can't I rename my Quicken data file using the file operations function?

    Solution:

If you are using Microsoft Vista™ you cannot rename your data file using the Rename function:

File menu > File Operations > Rename.

HOWEVER, if you are not using Windows Vista it maybe an issue with the file. Other ways of Renaming the file steps are below:

File menu > File Operations > Copy.

    - Locate the filename from the directory path and edit the name
    - Modify the dates to include the start date and today's date
    - Select Include All Prior Uncleared Transactions and Include All Prior Investment transactions
    - Click Ok

A window will appear stating which file you would like to use.
    - Select New copy and click Ok.

NOTE: kindly perform a super validate on your file to check the integrity and try to rename it again. (PLEASE DO A BACK UP BEFORE PERFORMING THE VALIDATION AS THIS REMOVE CORRUPTION IF THERE IS)

    HOW:

Press and hold CTRL+SHIFT then while holding these two keys - click

FILE - FILE OPERATIONS - VALIDATE - choose the file that needs to validate and open the file.

    - when the super validation is working - you can let go the keys.

    Hope this helps,

    Kind Regards,

    Vinia
