I have been using Quicken / reckon personal plus since about 2005 and have upgraded to 2013 when I select savings goals the program crashes, and I cannot add any new savings goals and neither do I appear to be able to remove the old savings goals ?
If I don't us my old files/information and create a new file (not practical) goals function works fine in the new version (2013).
Some of my old goals entered before the upgrade still appear, as this problem has been ongoing for some time I have added a lot of information using the 2013 version.
I still have my 2008 disc, is 2013 backwards compatible do I;
1) have to delete 2013
2) reinstall 2008
3) remove  savings goals and re-save the files
4)Reinstall 2013 and restore files and create new goals
I have heard that 2013 is not backward compatible.
I am using windows 7 operating system
Reckon accounts personal plus 2013 release R1
Any ideas would be appreciated as this has now become a problem
many thanks

Hi Glostrg and welcome to the Reckon Community.

Unfortunately the Savings Goal module does have an issue when upgrading a pre 2009 version datafile to a later version.  Savings Goals created in the 2009 version and later do not experience this problem on upgrade.

The only workaround is to delete the Savings Goals from the pre-2009 version, upgrade the file and re-enter the Savings Goals in the new version.

With Personal Plus (and all  Personal range products (previously called Quicken)), once a file is upgraded you cannot open it in an earlier version, so you will need to do what you have stated.  You'll find full details of the procedure at http://www.quicken.com.au/kb/issue_view.asp?ID=2748

    regards,
    John

    Hi John
your perfectly correct when you say 2013 is not backwards compatible, as I have added to my records since the upgrade it appears that I will have to start from scratch as the earlier 2008 version will not open the 2013 version and allow me to delete the savings goals.

My work around - I was using Quicken 2007 until I upgraded to the 2013 - is to create a Asset account in the Property and Debt area and then establish a scheduled transfer to that account.  It also saves the trouble of doing withdrawls, etc from the savings goal back to the main account.
