    Hi Sheoak,

    Welcome to the Reckon Community.

It sounds like you do not have your QuickBooks open at the time you are posting data, and the company file requires a password from the user .

Try opening QuickBooks and your company file and post again.

Let me know how it goes.

    Regards,
    John

Could it be because when the computer centre transfered data onto our new computer they removed our Retail point of sale password/log in? Should we Re enter this?

    Hi Sheoak.

The error relates to accessing your QuickBooks company file, so do try posting with the QuickBooks company file open.

Yes, if you had passwords in POS and later remove them, there may be issues with some functions inside POS itself.  See our note at:
    http://kb.reckon.com.au//issue_view.asp?ID=3721
on the conditions where the removal of passwords may be an issue.

    regards,
    John.

We have re-entered our POS administrator password and re-started the computer but no change. Our QB's is open and we are still unable to post and transfer.

    Hi Sheoak,

Sorry to hear the problem is persisting.

An earlier post mentioned you are transferring to a new computer.  If so, then please review your actions against the required sequence for new computers:
    1. Install QuickBooks, open your company file and Activate
    2. Install POS Administrator (and Terminal) and restore your backup
    3. Transfer  data from QuickBooks to  POS
    4. Install POS Terminals on other machines to the POS Administrator
Please Note that QuickBooks and POS Administrator must be installed on the same computer.
The company file (.QBW) and the POS database file (.PDB) can be on different computers in the local office network.
All computers must be on the same site.

If this sequence was not followed then you will need to uninstall both QuickBooks and POS and reinstall following this sequence.

If this sequence was followed and your problem is persisting then I suggest you get in touch with a Reckon Accredited Partner for further one-to-one assistance.  You can search for one in your area at:

Hope things get working for you soon.

    regards,
