Printer not activated, error code -30

A couple of user have just started receiving this error message when they try to email invoices.

"Printer not activated, error code -30"

I have gone through some of the troubleshooting I have found here:

But cant seem to fix the issue.

I have changed the port for the PDF printer and changed printer defaults etc several times.

See attached images of the errors as they occur in order (1-3)

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Hi JM,
Which version and edition of Reckon Accounts and Outlook are you using?

Also, which operating system are you using?

Sorry, I should have stated this.

It is Reckon 2018 and Outlook 2016 (365) on Windows 10 Pro.

It has worked on this setup up until about 1 week ago.

I have checked on workstations that can still email and workstations that cant.

On the workstations that cant email they have had several updates.

About the time the email stopped working was:

12/10/18 - KB4462918

This has NOT been installed on 2 workstations that can still send email.


Other updates installed recently on 2/10/18 are KB4457146, KB4457142, KB4339420. But users advised they could print after this date.

Hey Rav - I tried uninstalling the printer PDF driver and re-installing as per some guides on this site. I now get a different error (-41) related to activation. If I check in the Printer properties / About screen it says Licensed to N/A.

Other systems that can print say Licensed To Reckon Limited

How do I get it licensed again?

My next call is to uninstall and re-install Reckon totally

Just to let anyone who has this problem know I have found a solution.


It is pretty simple as well and surprising that no forum post I have read even mentions this...

- Remove the printer from the computer (through System Settings / Printers & Scanners)
- Open Reckon and go to email an invoice / form etc.
- Reckon will automatically install the required printer

There is a reference to this in the readme.txt file for installing the program. It says it the printer fails to install when installing reckon that it will self install the first time you go to email a document...
