Since the upgrade the option to print takes 3 times as long .... select, view, then finally print.  Is there a quicker option?  Suggestions

Thanks Michelle.

Mine won't open in the browser tab, it wants to save as PDF in my download folder and then I open from there and print. But even with my extra step the process is not taking me any longer because the process is less clunky than the old system. Don't forget what it was like if you couldn't see any of your printers when you opened up, then have to log out and back in again and hope the things were there.

Leanne, when you click 'view' after 'printing' the invoice it should open in a new browser tab (mine, Firefox, however wants to save straight to my 'download' folder) from there you can print to your own printer. The upload and download buttons are in the top right hand corner just to the left of the minimize button 'arrow up' - 'arrow down'

I don't understand, you can give me a call if you like on 0266834083. I was able to help someone just 5 mins ago, nothing guaranteed of course but at least you get a sympathetic ear.

I have never seen in my life a program quite like this for printing a document it takes at least 4 operations just to print 1 doc . Come on a child of 6 could design a better way of printing. This is just a CHEAP WORK AROUND FOR SLACK PROGRAMING
FIX IT.

Hey Fiona, with regard to PDFs saving to the local machine. This is not a setting within Hosted. All PDF printing uses the internet browser settings - when printing please check the settings that are selected within the browser. This maybe worth contacting Technical Support for, they will be able to run through troubleshooting with you on a one to one basis.

Hi, when I print an invoice, it opens in a new browser tab. I can print from there quickly with ctrl+P quickly too, so so far all good. But the keyboard shortcut ctrl+s to save the PDF as a file won't work. Any suggestions on how to save this PDF (preferably only keyboard inputs no mouse clicks - this needs to go quick)? I looked at the new 'upload' and 'download' buttoms at top right hand corner but can't seem to find that that's what they are there for (more for uploading / downloading company files?). Thanks in advance.

Krischan, you probably need to have a PDF printer installed on your computer, then you can print to PDF and save. My Firefox won't open in a new browser tab (wish it would) but automatically wants to save as PDF to my download folder with a huge file name with lots of numbers

@Charles
thanks for reply, but I don't need a PDF printer installed as it opens a PDF in the new browser tab, and I can mouse click my way to settings > file > save as > and that works to save the already generated PDF, just takes too long just for the sake of saving a PDF (too many mouse clicks), surely there is a fast and quick way of keyboads combinations to print this rather than cumbersom mouse clicks.

This new system is CRAP! you can't use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + T to bring up the memorised transactions listing, it opens a new tab, running in the browser wastes screen space as you have the browser over the top and it is cumbersome and slow. Fix your back end server issue and put it back on Citrix so that everyone can use Citrix. It worked, no issues with browser support / compatibility and it was reliable, and even more so when using the actual receiver app over the web login.

I got a reply stating you just need to hit 'cntrl and P' - funny, that is step 5 in my printing 'procedure'. The process for printing a PDF invoice on paper for me is a full 6 step process:

Step 1) Mouse click 'print' on invoice
Step 2) Mouse click 'print' on print window
Step 3) Wait intil PDF is created
Step 4) hit 'enter'
Step 5) Then, when the PDF opens: Ctrl and P
Step 6) hit 'enter'

If this process can be shortened could someone please tell me how as it is time consuming. If the mouse clicks could be eliminated that would speed the process up tremendously.

Thanks in advance

 I too am feeling really frustrated and annoyed with this new printing regime.
It now takes 5 or 6 steps to print a form. Really? That's the best you can do?

It is hiddeous, it is so frustration. And there are many people complaining abou this, but from RECKON the only response I get is 'Thank you for your suggestion it may be incorporated in the next update'. Why does something like this need to wait until there is a major software update, isn't this something that would make all user's life much more pleasant if it were implemented sooner rather than later and prevent more grief?

DEAR RECKON,

can we please have an update as to whether the printing will be simplified and if so in which timeframe we can expect this to happen?

Thank you!

I am getting frustrated with this ongoing thing of taking 5 mouse clicks to print a report - if I click 'print' I just want a print out - I do not want to open a PDF and be asked if I want to view the report and then request 'again' for it to be printed - is this ridiculous process going to be done away with ?

Hi guys, R4 does not make changes to the Hosted system, R4 is a software update for Hosted and Desktop versions which introduces SuperStream. Printing is currently performed through your own internet browser. Hosted is not linked to your printer to avoid compatibility issues between printers. I have heard from some users that Save as PDF and print works a little faster though.

That's lovely Mirko, but...when are those developers going to attend to this time wasting, idiot, stupid way of doing things.  I thought Reckon Hosted was supposed to be a productivity improvement...no sign of that yet!

@Mirko,

Please pass on to the developers that launching an R4 which does not address the user's issues is VERY dissapointing!

So even if you can get over the fact that 1 step to print has now become 5 steps to print... you cannot even format reports.. a report that can usually be formatted to fit to page on landscape will save as a pdf as portrait over 4 pages!!! Stupid and wasteful!

I have contacted Reckon online about reverting back to my old premier subscription, however, I will lose ALL the information/ data I have entered since the change over. That is unless, I up grade to professional, which is again extra charges. The tech support guys put it back on me, saying that I should have tested it before I changed over. I did! One thing I did not do was print, however, if the interface has a print button, you would expect it to actually print. Not happy Reckon!!

Hi Tanya,
   you can select landscape or portrait in the "Advanced" controls; it defaults to Portrait.  If you change it you have to remember what setting you last selected and whether that is correct for the current report or always click on the Advanced options button, to check, before you print.

Is anything happening with this?  I have wasted 28 minutes today waiting for my statements to  print.  I'm not talking hundreds of statements - a grand total of 65!  I note that Reckon states the following:

Faster than ever before

We have invested significant resources to ensure that Hosted is faster than ever.

Really?  It never took anywhere near this long to print statements previously.  Please advise as to what progress has been made with this.

Good to see one of the features n the latest update is the ability to customize some form or another. I have never seen a problem posted in the community about this needing to be done. I can only assume that somewhere there have been hundreds and hundreds of people complaining about that particular issue. Otherwise, why would it take priority over the hundreds of complaints I have seen and heard about the 5 step printing process you know - the problem you have done nothing about?

why is this printing process listed as a feature I'm creating pdfs with personal data that I have to keep private and I have no idea where the PDF is, how long it is retained, who can look at it.

and don't get me started on the email, which outbox now has all my employees tax statements held  for who knows how long and with what security.

let us use our own printers and email systems.

It's been a year since I lodged this problem.
STILL its a 5 or 6 click process to print an invoice or receipt. It's still listed as a positive new feature on the page when you log in.
When is reckon going to actually DO SOMETHING about this?

When is reckon going to change how we print.  I am currently trying out Xero to see if it is going to be worth the change and I am sad to say that I think it is.  Printing is such a breeze with Xero... ONE CLICK and it is done.  Mirko you say "It has been passed onto our Development team" but we have heard nothing back.  Reckon makes it sound so complicated to print directly to a printer as you have to support all the different drivers.  Then PLEASE answer me this... how come it is soooo simple with XERO???  I have about 10 clients on Reckon who really despise Reckon because of the time it takes print reports.  I think it may be time to start an online petition to see if Reckon is serious about being customer focused!!  It will be interesting to see what others think.  Come Reckon no more lip service!!

Hi Gavin and everyone,

Streamlining processes, including printing, is most certainly aspects which our Dev team are constantly looking at improving.

I don't have a further update in terms of specifics to share at this point regarding printing but will share here when I do so.

Thanks
Rav

Rav, with respect, this has been a source of angst for Reckon users for YEARS;
It's not something new. Since the day Reckon changed to this system, people have been complaining about it.
So,  Reckon needs to stop ignoring u and fobbing us off with comments like 'the dev team are constantly looking at improving'. They have been constantly looking at it for at least two years now.
"I don't have a further update in terms of specifics to share at this point regarding printing but will share here when I do so."? Then go get the *$#! specifics!
Again, you have had years to fix this! DO SOMETHING!

Still waiting on Reckon to fix this ludicrous printing problem!!!! I have a client who likes to print invoices, it just takes them toooo long with.  This is a very inefficient use of an employees time.  Imagine how much extra staff costs are due to this long winded process.  Rav... do you have any ideas on how we can substantially reduce the time.  I would be so interested in hearing it.
