Purchased Reckon Accounts Premier 2015. Was unable to install the 2002 version using disk provided to upgrade data. Error: problem accessing fonts section of registry. Quickbooks could not be installed completely - cancelling setup. This happened on windows 8, 7 & XP. Antivirus and firewall were stopped. All this after being messed around with product not being ordered, then disk not sent. Several calls to reckon to sort this out and now unable to transfer data.

    Hi Megan,

In addition to Tim's suggestion, Run as Admin and then set the QuickBooks 2002 launch icon to Run as Admin and in compatibility mode for Windows XP sp3.

QuickBooks 2002 has difficulty on the Microsoft Vista and later operating systems.  Its best to do the 2002 upgrade step on a Windows XP machine - or use the XP Mode of Windows 7.

The full guide on upgrading through QuickBooks 2002 is available here.

If your efforts come to nought, our Data Services are able to upgrade the file from v7 right through to 2015.  See their website to request a service.

    regards,
    John

Thanks John for the steps to complete, that was very helpful. I appreciated the links to other instructions. No luck in 2002 recognising the backup of Quicken Pro vs8 though.

    Hi Megan,

Do you have access to a WindowsXP PC, or a Windows7 with XP Mode?  Install the 2002 on the XP Mode virtual machine and upgrade the file.  Then continue the upgrade on your normal PC.

    Hope this helps.

    regards,
