PROGRESS INVOICES FROM SAME ESTIMATE

I am currently using QB Pro 2010-2011. I can create monthly progress invoices from the same estimate e.g. Estimate for 300hr. Month 1 = invoice 100hr, month 2 = 100hr, month 3 = 100hr. The estimate stays 'open'. When I tried QB online two years ago the estimate was closed at the first invoice & I could not create any more invoices from the same estimate. I opted out & went back to QB Pro.
Do the new versions allow progress invoicing from the same estimate ?
I replaced my laptop C: with a larger C: using ghosting software & now QB requires re-activating, which cannot be done according to Reckon support. I am up for new software.

Hi Allan

The online version (Hosted) is actually the Enterprise version so has considerably more features than QB Pro!

The Pro version has since been replaced by a 2-user Premier licence instead (which also has more features than Pro)

The ability to progress invoice from estimates is in the Premier & Enterprise (incl Hosted) versions.  It’s actually a Preference setting that can be enabled or disabled so it sounds like it just hadn’t been enabled when you tried Hosted before.

Thanks Shaz, we were informed of that switch & it did not work. After chatting to the support they agreed so we cancelled. Are you able to provide an example of two invoices from the same estimate. There is no use converting our files only to find the same thing. We were assured prior to the last attempt we could progressive invoice. Actually we don't require any more features for our business which has also been confirmed by our accountants. I am only looking because Reckon is not activating as I mentioned above.

Hi Allan

This is a screenshot from the Premier Sample file of the “Create Progress Invoice Based on Estimate” option that comes up when “Create Invoice” is selected (& Progress Invoicing is enabled in Preferences):

Thanks Shaz, that is exactly the same d.b. as QB Pro. Now I want to be convinced the estimate does stay open for the next invoice - as I said before I don't want to get the software only to find it does not as previously. I did query the Reckon support team but have not heard from them. This is another reason I am suspecting the 'progressive' does not work.

Shaz, I need to see that either the 2nd or 3rd option works for the 2nd & subsequent invoices.

Hi Allan

I’d recommend accessing the 30-day trial version so you can check it out – it’s free :)
