Hi . I have been using Quicken for Business version 7 for windows 95 as a personal cash book successfully since 1999 and it still does everything that I want but cant keep up with our PC's.
Can we convert the old data files so that can we can get up to date  software for Windows 10?

Wow, you've got some great mileage out of your program Bruce!

This is an interesting situation as there are a few factors at play. You will need to go through a stepped upgrade process but you'll also need to consider and contend with both the age/compatibility of your program and the older operating system you're using.

It will need to go through a stepped upgrade process and we suggest your file will need to go from your current v7 version to v8 then to 2004 on your older PC and then install the current 2018 version on your Windows 10 PC and upgrade your file to that current version on the new PC. In regard to installing v8 & 2004 on your older Windows 95 PC, we haven't, and can't, test this ourselves so its a case of giving it a try.

After chatting with a few folks about this, to be upfront and honest we can't guarantee any measure of success or problems cropping up along the way because of the old/new technology combination.

There's more information including determining the upgrade path in the 2018 Reckon Personal Range Installation & Upgrade Guide HERE

Before doing any of the above, please ensure that you have multiple backups in seperate locations.

Hi Bruce

Along with what Rav has suggested above; sometimes the data files are also better off upgrading through some other version as follows:

2010 or 2011

I have all of these installed on different computers.

You must take care especially of share trading (if applicable), invoicing (if applicable) and GST (if applicable) as through all the different versions transactions can get "confused".

Let me know if I can be of assistance, I have upgraded many data files over the past 18 years..
