As I understand it, licences for Quicken expire after one year. You can normally continue to use the program without renewing but if anything happens and you have to re-install you need a new licence, I believe.
I renew my licence each year as I think the cost is well worth the money. And, of course, you receive each new version for no additional cost - not that versions change much from year to year - except that taxation changes are up-dated.

I am on a pension but and am using quicken for an non for profit organisation and I would not want to have to pay the licence fee every year as I don't use it often enough and it is too expensive. I now have tried to back up a file from a usb stick, I can view it but am unable to copy it. As said before I spoke with a person who gave me numbers I had to type in and she said it was now 100% activated, so why cannot I still not access it??

I rang them but he cannot do anything for me as it does not open and apparently 2011 is an old version. I have a backup file on my usb stick and that comes up, however, it does not let me make a copy and put it on my computer.
If I need to buy the software again, (I tried my original disc too), how much does it cost? May I make a comment too that surely someone should have notified me to let me know that 2011 is out of date and they no longer support it? As before they said it is 100% activated. The reason that they did not let me use it any longer is that they said: It looks like you are using it on 2 computers.

Your explanation sounds like two different problems here.  The question of licensing/activation is one thing.  But when you say you 'can't copy' the backup - that seems to be an operating system/user issue.

Can you explain how you are attempting to get the USB files 'copied' to your PC?
ie;  just use copy/paste within a Windows Explorer session.  Make a new folder on your pc simply called say;  c:\myDATA   and then drag (or copy) the QBB backup files from the USB drive (perhaps that is drive E: or next available letter).

To test all this safely,  rename the QBB file to some 'test' name so that you are absolutely clear about which physical file in c:\myDATA\test.qbb  you are dealing with.

Then start the Reckon program and do a RESTORE from the c:\myDATA\test.QBB file to make a new  c:\myDATA\test.QBW  usable livce file, and try to subsequently OPEN that.  Report back to us here at the Community..

Neil - what problem this time though?

You mentioned far above in earlier posts to this forum that you "tried to back up a file from a usb stick, I can view it but am unable to copy it. "....  ?but gave us no clue on the steps you were doing that lead you to that statement.

I'm still unclear if you can't basically get 'any' file from your USB stick  onto 'some disk folder' onto your hard drive  and/(or)  whether you are then trying some operation AFTER THAT....  or missed some point of your dialogue.   Some clarity would assist please.
