Quicken Personal Plus 2009 still serves my purpose. It has popped up a box with

"Your Quicken Product will expire in less than 5 days....."

Wants me to go to the estore to purchase I don't know what.

or call 1300 784 253.

Am I about to thrown out of a product I thought I owned?

Steven, you may have thought you "bought" it, but in reality it's a Licence - 10 years to use the software and 2 years of Online Services - it's the Reckon way of screwing you.

Check Help/Licence Information Tab for your specific detail.

Not sure what happens when you go past the date, but quite possibly it won't open until you buy a new version or Licence extension.

You can buy a copy of Personal Plus 2016 for $150 on Gum tree.

Thanks very much. Ill do that. However I put 2013 on a new pc and it will not open my Quicken 2009 QDF file. Perhaps a new post is in order.

I vaguely recall that sometimes going from one version to another it needed the file to be converted.

David, that used to be the case, but the file system hasn't changed for some years.  From memory the last change was around 2004.

This website says that you need 2013 to upgrade the file to be usable with new versions. Tried it on win 10 and win 7. wouldn't recognise my quicken file.
