The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has identified an issue with local/master file returns and are currently investigating the issue.

They have advised that clients should not lodge any local/master file returns until further notice.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may bring to you and your business. We will ensure to notify you via email as soon as the ATO provide further information.

Please ensure that the relevant people are informed of this important notice.

Dose this mean we cannot lodge and Tax Returns??? please define 'local/master' files.

The Local/Master file is associated with Country-by-Country Reporting. Please see more details via the ATO website

So local OZ TAX returns ok? I act for default taxpayers and have a batch of 15 to lodge for 1 taxpayer so safe to lodge?

This is my 50th year since l became a tax agent. Is the world about to end?

Hi Peter. A clarification email is under preparation and will be sent shortly.

Local tax returns are okay to lodge. The ATO has only requested a hold on the lodging of Local/Master file returns associated with Country-by-Country Reporting.

I hope the world's not about to end. I've got a lot invested in it! :)

My next world will have no ATO or Reckon. I just feel sorry and embarrassed for the good people at Reckon.
