Reckon, what is up with the confusing product names?

Is it a wonder that people on the community are giving/getting mixed advice.

Reckon Accounts
Reckon Accounts Accounting
Reckon Accounts Plus

Reckon Accounts Personal
Reckon Accounts Personal Plus
Reckon Accounts Home & Business

A Reckon Accounts product range for 'Personal' and 'Home & Business'.

A Reckon Accounts product range for "Business".

Look at that list and without having any previous idea about Reckon products, can you tell which one is in a particular range?

And how about before with the whole "Quicken", "QuickBooks", "Quicken Books", "CashBooks", "CashBook Online"

this is re IMs post at https://community.reckon.com.au/reckon/topics/spelling_error_in_report where the poster and the postee were talking about 2 completely different products whilst trying to help each other.

    (semi-official) Response...

But Inigo, you neglected to mention...

    Reckon Accounts EasyStart
    Reckon Accounts Pro
    Reckon Accounts Premier
    Reckon Accounts Enterprise
    Reckon Accounts Hosted

I can't be 100% sure on this, but the answer could be one of the following:

    a) retail stores gave us 10 facings for product exposure so we had to fill it?

    b) we have 10 people in marketing and we couldn't split 4 products 10 ways?

    c) 10 just sounds good?

Seriously though, the Accounts range does cover a vast amount of product each catering to a different need and market segment, so it can get confusing on the forum if you don't identify the exact product.

To make it easier, with the program open the product 'flavour' will be displayed in the title bar:

    Home & Business 2013

    Premier 2013

Hope that helps everyone in the future whether posting or replying.

    Cheers,
    Jason

Hi Jason, thanks for the response.

I didn't mention the other program names as that would have made my original list of confusing product name even longer.

    Reckon Accounts EasyStart
Reckon Accounts Accounting (who thought this is a good name?)

    Reckon Accounts Plus
    Reckon Accounts Pro
    Reckon Accounts Premier

    Reckon Accounts Enterprise
    Reckon Accounts Hosted

    Reckon Accounts Personal
    Reckon Accounts Personal Plus
    Reckon Accounts Home & Business

Now apart from those already in the know, how is a busy, time-poor small business owner supposed to realise that the "Reckon Accounts Home & Business" is actually in the 'personal' product group, while "Reckon Accounts Plus" and "Reckon Accounts Personal Plus" are not even related.

Why not simply call the 'personal' range something clearly different?

    Example:

    Reckon Personal Finance
    Reckon Personal Investor
    Reckon Sole Trader

Nothing mentions the word 'Accounts' which can be left to be used in the 'business' range.

Anyway something constructive instead of the flood of incoherent panicked messages I've been reading on the community over the last few days.
