Sorting sales item list

Since upgrading to Accounts Enterprise, new Sales Items added do not sort within the entire list of Sale Items (inventory items) in the Adjust Quantity/Value screen. This makes it very hard to find products that need adjusting. The main Sales Item List can be sorted but not the "Adjust Quantity/Value" screen.

Any suggestions?

    Hi Paul,

The Adjust Quantity/Value screen will sort the items however they are sorted in the item list.  If you want to sort your item list it needs to be done in the item list as opposed to the Adjust Quantity/Value screen as it's not possible to sort the list in that screen.

    Regards,
    Shane.

Thanks for the reply Shane. Yes I can sort in the Item List which works well, but it doesn't carry this sorting over to the items when viewing in the Adjust Qty/Value screen. All new items added for months stay randomly at the top of this Adjustment list and won't inter sort with all the other items. Makes it very hard to find items when having to adjust.

    Hi Paul,

If you create a new item in the item list, it will first display at the top of the list, from there you should be able to drag the item to a place in the list you want it to go.  Does that work for you?  If it does, then go into the Adjust Quantity/Value screen, is that new item still at the top of the list or is it in the same place as it appears when viewing the item list?

    Regards,
    Shane.

I just created a new Test sales item. It automatically jumped into it's alphabetically sorted spot in the item list, but stays at the top of the list in the adjustment Qty/Value screen.

    Hi Paul,

I've had a look at the Adjust Qty/Value screen in a number of test files and yes, I got a varied response.  It should, and in most files, it was in alphabetical order, but in the odd file some items were out of alphabetical order.

Rebuilding the file did not help.  Backing up the file to a Portable Company File and restoring it may be fruitful and worth a try.

I have logged this problem with our Developers for further investigation.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience this issue is causing you.

    regards,
    John.

Thanks for the update John. I'm glad you could replicate the problem. We have several thousand sales items, and approx 1/3 of them are now out of order at the top of the list which makes it very difficult to locate items when adjustments need to be made. If the developers come up with a fix, will I be advised?

John, I have just discovered that the Stocktake Worksheet in reports also doesn't sort. It's like the list in Adj Qty/Value screen. This report is critical for us when we do our stocktake in 2 weeks time and will make it impossible to do unless this report is in order. Can something be fixed quickly?

Thank you Paul for the additional information.

Unfortunately I cannot say when this particular issue will be addressed.  The error has been reported and our Product Developers will take it into consideration in their normal cycle or programme updates.

Once again I'm sorry for the inconvenience this issue is causing you.

    regards,
    John.

Is this still on the never-never plan ?
It's a real PITA with 1700 line items, many of which are very similar when reading.
