In transport industry most customers must have listed the Con-Note numbers.

While creating my Invoice template I have used the "Other 1" & "Other 2" (See attached as Manifest No & SPA) I want to be able to run a report so as if I find a stray docket I can search either "Other 1 or Other 2" fields to look for this number, instead of having to open each invoice and manually going through each invoice looking for this number.

Any ideas? I have tried a few reports and trying to modify them but cant find one that brings up these two fields.

Cheers
Melissa

    Hi Melissa,

Those fields are for display purposes only.  For example, if you need a column to display some specific information on the invoice that is not available elsewhere.  However they are not available to report on. However another option that may be viable for you is using custom fields on your items in the Item list (if you edit an item you will see a button "Custom Fields").

The custom fields can be added to the invoice template and can be added to reports.  Please note however that not all reports will display the information.  Because these fields are entered into the individual line items, only reports displaying the individual line items could display the data.  For example, a Custom Transaction Detail report can display the data as this report shows each line of the transaction.  So I think this should work for your needs of searching for an invoice with a certain number in those fields, just use the filter tab on the report and select the SPA or Manifest No filter to filter it by that specific SPA or Manifest No you are searching for. Give that a try and see if it gives you the solution you need.

Shane is on the money here.   Then you can run a REPORT like:  Sales -->  Customer Contacts,

and modify that report to include the defined filed s you've created,  and SORT by such field, so that say, the CONN NOTE (if that is your defined field)  shows up in sequence.   You can then use that for searching content or list the lot and double-click on the sorted item found.
