Send forms invalid email details

Attempting to setup Reckon Accounts Plus 2018 to send forms by email. Previously we have not used this feature.

In the Send Forms preferences, I have entered the following details from our admin:

-  I would like to use "Mail" within Windows 10, hence have selected "Other" from the Email Provider drop down menu.
-  Email ID: [email address]
-  Server name: [outgoing server name]
-  Port: [outgoing server port number]

When Reckon asks upon sending an email, I then enter our email password.

However an error appears that says: "Invalid Email Details, Either your email address or password is incorrect. If your email address is incorrect, please edit it in your Send Forms Preferences". However, I am confident they are correct.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Further to the above: is it necessary to use SMTP for sending emails from Reckon? Perhaps this is the problem.

    I too use Windows 10 Mail program but what it does is to bring all of your separate emails to the one reader. You can't use it as your email account but rather you select Outlook, Yahoo Mail, Gmail or whatever email provider you use.

    That will be included in the list of email providers in Reckon Accounts Preferences. All email providers have moved away from POP and SMTP mail due to security issues, electing instead to use a html email reader (like Hotmail) which doesn't download the emails file onto your computer which might contain viruses or malware but instead reads them on the providers web portals.

    I discovered this when my Yahoo POP email reader stopped working and I was advised that I had to use HTML reader and Windows 10 Mail did that well.

    I did the above, and changed email to gmail, but it still has the same error message. What else could I be doing wrong please?

    If you are having problems still, I just fixed mine by selecting OUTLOOK and it then protects all other fields and send the emails to my Reckon address. I then sent them from my outbox. I am on Reckon desktop so it may not work for you.
