Single Touch Payroll for multiple businesses with different AUSKEYS

I'm trying to get my head around Single Touch Payroll. I own my own business and therefore have no problem with what I need to do for my employees. Problem is that I also work for two other businesses (help with BAS lodgement monthly/qtrly)that use Reckon, one of which has a different employee that does the payroll. Do I just need to add the other two businesses to my own business Reckon Portal login and then use that software ID in each separate businesses AUSKEY to get started? I then have to add the payroll staff to the business where I don't do the payroll so that they can do the STP? The additional payroll staff would also need to register on the Reckon Portal and get MFA. Is this process correct?

    Hi Amanda,
If your commitments to the other two businesses don't extend to payroll and/or Single Touch Payroll then I'd avoid adding them to your Reckon Portal account. Once an ABN has been registered for Single Touch Payroll it cannot be created by any other users instead it will need to be shared to other users once created. So if there is someone else performing payroll functions for the other business then I'd leave that to them to action ie. create the Reckon Portal account, set up STP etc.

Thanks Rav. I am the only one with an AUSKEY. Do they just set it up in Reckon and then give me the software ID to my AUSKEY? I assumed the AUSKEY would have to be in the same name as the admin for single touch payroll.

The AUSkey is simply a quicker option for advising the ATO of the Software ID as it can be done via the AUSkey's "Access Manager".  However, it's not part of the STP submission process - It's Reckon's Portal that you use for this & that can be accessed from anywhere as it's online.

If you're not the person who will be lodging each time, you can assist the other businesses to set up their own Reckon Portal access for STP & just "share" the tile with you so that you can access it if necessary.

Each person who wants to lodge/access will need their own individual MFA but you can set the Portal access up for the main person & grant access to others by sharing the file with them.  They will then each receive an email link (each person's email address being their own login/username) & can set up their own MFA..

    Hope that helps.

I run 2 separate businesses on my Reckon Hosted AC. I have successfully setup the first one with STP. How do I get the 2nd MFA from my reckon portal AC to register the other business?
