Started moving to 2018 and got error . Solution is Rebuild data

First time we have had to update to new version. Warning message: Data problem prevents Reckon from continuing. Solution - Rebuild Data. I don't know if I want to do that. And what is the problem in the first place?

Hi Joanna,
Do you perform regular maintenance on your data file? 

This message means your there is a element of data corruption in your file. Do you create backups frequently?
