We experience error code 13, 'Type Mismatch' when doing transfer from QB to POS. It happens only when we tick the Product list. We have exported all 1000 products to excel and reviewed, edited & 'cleaned' all unusual symbols from the item name, purchase & sales description of many products. It still doesn't work. Anything else I can try? Would reinstlaling POS might work? I'm afraid restoring QB would be a hard one as we've had dozens of transactions in the past 10 days. Any help would be appreciated, thanks you. Ofra

    Hi Ofra,

    Welcome to the Reckon Community.

If you export and update your items list after all the end of day transactions then you will also need to make the changes for the end of day file as well, the name start with QBpst-name-date-001.pos and the locations are below.

    Windows XP - C:\Program Files\Reckon\Retail Point of Sale Professional 20xx-xx Administrator\
    Windows Vista, 7 & 8 - C:\Reckon\Retail Point of Sale Professional 20xx-xx Administrator\

Once you locate the QBpst files, you will need to open it with excel and make the changes.

Alternatively you can move those files out of that location and import it manually into Reckon Accounts (QuickBooks) by going to File > Utilities > Import > IIF Files > Change the Files of type to All Files.

Please make sure to create a backup in Reckon Accounts (QuickBooks) before importing the QBpst file manually.

    Regards,
    Hoang

Thanks for the advice Hoang, however the problem we have is not with posting transactions from POS to Accounts, but the other way around, transferring the item list from Accounts to POS. The 'Post' function works just fine. So I don't see ow changing anything with the POS EOD files would change anything with Accounts item list to allow Administrator transfer files successfully to POS.

    Hi Ofra,

This other problem post looks the same as what you are experiencing.

    https://community.reckon.com.au/reckon/topics/frmquickbooksimport_get_quickbooksdata_13_type_missmat...

The technician outlines a problem-finding procedure that may assist you.

If you had previously been able to perform this post from Reckon Accounts to POS, when was the last time it was successful?

You may then need to determine what changes to the Products (Items) list had occurred after that time to narrow down the items you would need to investigate.

    Hi Jenni,

The previous post mentioned above that has the problem-finding procedure, no longer exists.

If you are having problems sending information from Reckon Accounts to POS, then you need to check the POS related lists that you are transferring.

For Ofra, she was having problems with the Product list. (items)
One or more entries in that list of items contains a character that is not a number or a letter. (Example: ^ " ' ; or other characters like carriage returns or non-printing characters such as special unicode symbol values)

Here is a web page that has some suggestions for how to find/correct the problem.

13 Type mismatch: GetQuickBooksData error when transferring information to POS

Or you can trial some software that can do the job too Cell Cleaner which is to remove or replace unwanted or non-printing characters.
