I have a number of shares but for the last few weeks 2 out of many haven't been updating: BHP and BXB.
What can be the reason ?

    Hi Leon,

    Welcome to the Reckon Community.

Check that these shares are properly set.
First, right-click the share and select Edit Security.  Is it configured in this manner?

Then in One Step Update Settings > Select quote, ensure those shares are ticked in the list.

Thanks John, unfortunately all the settings are as you show them and it's been working for ages.
The graph of quotes hasn't moved since early November for BHP and I have the same issue with Brambles BXB. The other shares are updating as usual.image

    Thanks Leon,

And you can see the exact dates missing in Price History?

    regards,

    Thanks Leon,

    Please do a test.
Create a new datafile and buy these two shares for a past date.
    Run One Step Update.
    Did the prices update?

    regards,
    John

    Thanks Leon,

So we have established the error is in the datafile and not the application.

Try a few more tests in your main datafile.

if you do not have a recent backup to restore, create one now.  You can restore this backup after each test.

Firstly, check the setup of BHP and BXB in the test file against your datafile.
    Correct any differences
Check the setup of the share that appears above BHP and BXB in the One Step Update > Settings > Select Quotes list.
    Create a new backup.
    Try again.

If they still do not update.....

In your datafile, do the shares update individually?
Right-click the share and select Download Quotes.

    If yes, restore your backup.

In One Step Update, select only these two shares to update.
One Step Update > Settings > Select Quotes
Untick All and then tick just BHP and BXB
    Do they update?

    If yes, restore your backup.
In One Step Update, select just the shares.
    does it update?
If yes there may be a problem with non-share securities - like the Indices

If not, in One Step Update, select just BHP and BXB and the first share above it.
    Do they update?

    If yes, restore your backup.
In One Step Update,  select just BHP and BXB and the two shares above it.
    does it update?

Keep repeating until it fails.  This last share added has a problem.

    regards,
    John

    Thanks John, appreciate your help.

I don't know what it means but all the other tests failed but when I selected the 2 shares above BHP, both BHP and BXB updated for all the days of December.
So what do I do now ?

    Thanks Leon,

That means a security somewhere higher in the list has an error and in the One Step Update it is making the process stop rather than skip it and continue.

I would now continue with the test methodically and continue adding the next security higher to the download list until the entire attempt fails.  That last security added will be the one causing the problem and you'll need to examine it and correct its setup.

The problem might be with a non-share security.

    regards,
    John

    Hi John
I've been away so only got back to it this week.
I'm still struggling to work out what the problem is but I noticed the following :
    image

All of those were set up a long time ago and have valid symbols as far as I can see.
    Any ideas ?

    Hi Leon,

If you're finding that particular shares are not updating I would highly recommend going through this knowledge base article. One of the steps in this article should help rectify the issue, especially since we know it's data file problem and not a program related problem.

    I hope this helps.

    Luke.

    Hi John/Luke
As I was progressively removing the various shares from the update list, I hit upon one trial which fixed my problem.

I had the same symbol (BHP) in 3 different accounts, one for me and one each for my 2 children.
Removing the update for the latter two made the BHP update work. This also fixed BXB.

So while there may still be a problem with my file, given that I've been using these setting for ages and that I recently upgraded to APP2017, I think there may be a change of behaviour in the new version for this condition.

Nevertheless thank you for your help to date.

    Regards
    Leon

Yes I agree with you Leon as I have had the same issue. I don't think this is a data error but rather a bug or "new feature".

If you have the same security eg BHP bought (Buy) from multiple accounts then you end up with two entries in the Online Updater Quotes list. It has been like this and working OK for years. Recently the Update Process stopped updating the daily prices for these securities.

Your determination resolves the situation ie remove one of the duplicate securites from the Online Updater Quotes list and both will be updated in the next One Step Update.

Reckon need to investigate this and advise everyone if it is a bug or a change to the way update works.
