I would like to upgrade from V8 to Quicken 2013 but first I need to convert my existing files to Quicken 2004 format - where can I obtain a copy of Quicken 2004 to start the process?

    Hi Michael,

    Welcome to the Reckon Community.

All the resources you need are available on your installation disk.  There is also an Installation and Upgrade Guide that describes all the steps and location of resources.

Before you start make sure your file is error free and that you have a couple of backups.

Browse to your CD drive and go to CV > CBTrial where you'll find the 2004 upgrade version.  Install it and open your v8 file.  Close it.

Uninstall all Quicken programmes on your PC.

Install the 05/06 version - see the Guide p13 for location and IKCs that you will need.  Open your 2004 version file to upgrade it.  Uninstall 05/06

Now install 2013 and open your 05/06 file to upgrade it.

You'll now be ready to use the latest version of Reckon Accounts Personal (what Quicken is now called).

    regards,
    John

    Thankyou John

However, I downloaded the trial version of Quicken 2013 and do not have a CD.

I chose this route to see if the migration process has improved in the last 5 or so years.   I did in fact attempt to upgrade once before, bought the retail version but I could not get the conversion to work.  From memory I needed to change the attributes of some of my accounts and even then it failed?
But I do need to switch to 2013 so do I need to buy the retail CD version to get Quicken 2004 or is it available as a download?

    Michael,

Consider creating a new file in the latest version of the program.

    Thanks
On checking the trial version download file I noted there was the trial version for 2004 included.

So I installed that version and managed to convert one of my files with no probs.

However my main file, which has historical data going back some 20 years (!) will not convert.  Rather, at the end of the convert/validation process I get an error message:

"European files are not supported in the US version of Quicken.  Please keep using your old foreign version for tax support.  You can use QIF to transfer watchlists.

Granted I could simply start a new file in 2013 but given the value of my historical data I would much prefer to convert same.

As it appears I cannot do the conversion myself does Reckon or one of its partners offer a fee-for-service to do same?

    Thanks
