Whenever I try to use my 30 day trial of Reckon One I am getting the following response on Safari, Firefox and Chrome. What is the best browser to use. I thought Reckon One could be used on all platforms.

We notice you are using Unsupported platform...

Currently the Reckon One buying experience is not optimised for this particular configuration. To ensure the best possible experience please access Reckon One using a different browser.Thank you!

Hi Vicki,

Welcome to the Reckon Community.

That is odd that you should get such an error message on all these web browsers.

Firefox is required for a MAC computer as Safari and Chrome on MAC have compatibility issues with Silverlight.

We prefer Firefox or Chrome on a Windows PC.  Internet Explorer v10 is acceptable.

At what exact point do you get this error?
When you access the Reckon One website?
     When you enter your credentials?
When you attempt to open or create a book?

Do you have the correct Silverlight version installed for your computer and web browser?
Check this Community Note:

and for a MAC this article may be of help:

A couple of other things you can try:
  • lower your browser security/privacy settings;
  • clear your browser history.

Let me know how you go.

regards,
John

I'm also having problems using Firefox. I can login fine, but I get the following message when I open a book:

I installed the latest version of Silverlight (5.1.20913.0) and cleared all Firefox history (including cookies, cache, etc.).

I just upgraded to OS 10.9.2 and Firefox has been updated to the latest version 27.0.1.

There aren't many privacy/security settings to change, it looks pretty basic in this version of Firefox.

Any other ideas? I will contact Microsoft support as well since it seems like a problem with Silverlight not installing properly.

I know this is a bit different to the "unsupported platform" problem, but it might help, or be worth checking at least.

I solved my problem after all...

First, go to http://www.silverlightversion.com/ to check that Silverlight is functioning correctly with your browser. In Firefox this showed all zeros for me, but in Safari it showed the proper version number. If Firefox doesn't show the version number, go to Tools > Add-ons and check that the Silverlight plugin is active. For some reason mine wasn't - no surprise that Reckon One wouldn't load.

You can also check a Silverlight animation test like this one to check whether it is just Reckon One or Silverlight that's causing the problem: http://bubblemark.com/silverlight2.html

Thanks very much for sharing your experiences and your discoveries Conrad.

I have experienced this error when my Silverlight version was incorrect for my computer/browser configuration or when the Silverlight installation was corrupt.

Its not a straightforward process to remove Silverlight, so following the Microsoft instructions is a must:
http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx.

Many thanks for your contribution and welcome to the Reckon Community.

John

Hi guys,

Just to clarify some information for MAC Reckon One users.

(Note: the current release of Reckon One is 1.5.2.13 as of 10/07/2014)

MAC Reckon One users require the following:

1. Silverlight http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/

(Note: the current release is Silverlight 5 as of 10/07/2014)

2. Firefox http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

(Note: the current release is Firefox 30 as of 10/07/2014)

If you experience the following message whilst opening a Reckon One book then you need to enable/activate the Silverlight plug-in in Firefox.

How to enable/activate the Silverlight plug-in in Firefox.

1. The Firefox web browser will have a "Add-ons" menu option available. Click this menu option.

2. The "Add-ons" screen will have a "Plugins" option available. Click this option.

3. The "Plugins" screen will have a "Silverlight Plug-in" entry available. Ensure that this entry is set to "Always Activate".

Now you should be able to successfully open a Reckon One book in Firefox on MAC.

Regards,

Scott.

In the current Reckon One release, MAC users cannot open a book using Chrome or Safari web browsers.
(Note: the current release of Reckon One is 1.5.2.13 as of 10/07/2014)

The following message shows when a MAC user tries to open a Reckon One book using Chrome or Safari web browsers.

This is a known issue and will be fixed in a future release of Reckon One.

The current solution is to use Firefox on MAC to run Reckon One.

Regards,

Scott.

Hi guys,

Just an update on this thread, as of the 31/05/2015 you should now be able to access the HTML 5 version of Reckon One on most current browsers regardless if you're running Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X or Linux.
