I am using Reckon Home & Business Personal Plus 2016, with Home Inventory. My computer has Windows 10 completely up to date. The Business part and Personal Plus part of the program works fine. On 6 Sept 2018 I tried to update an item in Home Inventory, only the welcome screen started by the inventory program opened and then closed after a few seconds. Checking Task Manager showed nothing was running.  I last used the Inventory program successfully on 17 Aug 2018 for a small item update. After tearing my hair out looking for a problem, reinstalling the Home Inventory program etc. I found that Windows Defender was logging messages that it was blocking access to the data file when saving. I then identified that there was an exclusion part of Windows Defender where I could list various .exe like qw.exe files for exclusion. The Home Inventory program is now working and updating the data file with information I have changed. Interestingly even though the data is being stored, the file date in the *.qhi file is NOT changing as the file updates. I am reasonably sure the whole problem relates to a change and update in Windows Defender between 17 Aug 2018 and 6 Sept 2018 on my computer. Any thoughts out there on what else I should do?   btw the inventory data update is also feeding into the main finance program.

13 Sept 2018 All problems resolved now by adding legitimat program .exe files to the exclusions list in Windows Defender.
