With viewing option Multiple Windows set, the Close option is not displayed

I recently had to create users for my company file, one for me, and one for a third party. When logged on as this user, I noticed that the Close red X was missing when any window had been maximised. The only way to show the Close, and minimise/maximise, was to select Cascade on the Windows menu. This did not occur with the original Admin user, however this only displayed one window at a time. Eventually I figured that the View->One Window/Multiple Windows was why the views were different between users.

The question is; why is the Close option not shown when the Multiple Windows option is selected?

I have attached a screenshot marked up to illustrate the issue above, although it is very easy to see.

It is frustrating to have to select Cascade each time to close any open windows.

It is displayed in mine accessing it from a PC and an iPad, a number of windows open, view multiple windows option selected, and the red cross is displayed on the top of whatever window is selected - is this what you mean?

    Thanks Kris,

What browser and operating system are you using?

I should have added that it is the same on Firefox, Edge and Chrome on my Win 10 system.

Gosh I would never have considered using Accounts Hosted on an iPad.Do you use an app or Safari? Given the screen size I would have thought a pen would also be required.

On the ipad I just use Safari, but I am usually only looking things up or getting some reports. You can work but obviously the computer is easier. It’s also the large 12.9” iPad. On the PC I use Mozilla, but I have used Internet Explorer, it’s just that I keep Mozilla Firefox just for Reckon so it always opens up in the login window. And it works on Win 10 and 8

Jon.  This could depend on the browser that you are using as they can be a bit different.  It is possible that the zoom function has been used, which, is magnified enough, will cause things on the right hand side of the screen to be off the screen?

On the other hand, I have to say that it is extremely rare (if at all), for me to use the "x" to close down a page.  All I do is much simpler, in that I just press the ?????Esc ? button instead and this always works for me.

    Thanks Kris and John,

The clue was zoom. While the fix was not that I was zoomed out, I maximised FireFox to be full screen, and viola, the close option was there. I have reduced it back to the size I had before, dragged it to the other monitor, and the close option stays. I run a 32" monitor (I am a developer) at a high density as is the other monitor. I suspect that Reckon Accounts Hosting was not handling this properly.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply. I will remember the ESC key as well.
