Hi Julie

this cryptic reference is an archaic pre-windows 95 way of referring to folders in 8 characters or less.  On your computer this will be either C:\Program Files (x86)\QPRollV18\Data or, if there is no C:\Program Files (x86) folder, then C:\Program Files (x86)\QPRollV18\Data.

Recommended Steps

  • Open the above folder in Window Explorer and copy any QPW files to another location (just in case - you don't want a potentially good current file overwritten with an old file).
  • Open Payroll 2009-10, navigate to the above folder and try to open a company file.
  • if no luck, Payroll creates a backup after each payrun in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\QPRollV18\Backup.  There will be up to nine backups named companyname.00x where x can be from 0 to 9.  Find the last-dated one and copy this ti the C:\Program Files (x86)\QPRollV18\Data folder, then rename as companyname.QPB . Open this bachkup from Payroll.
  • No luck? look at your backup drive, you may be able to copy the QPW file to the C:\Program Files (x86)\QPRollV18\Data folder or restore your last-dated backup to the folder.
Good luck.  If your still stuck, or if you are not confident with the above I could do a remote support consultation with you.  Details are on the link on my signature block
