Ability to change the default backup file name or set the date naming format as YYYY MM DD

By default on the Hosted platform, a backup name is based on the file name and the current date and time.

It defaults to the location B:\ with the existing file name and the date and time) and that file name cannot be changed.

In this case the in the backup file name it has the Month, Day and Year as "Sep 18, 2025"

Just an idea to make things easier when filing the backup files on a local computer, would it be possible for the file name of the backup QBB files to be formatted so that when they are listed in a folder they are in chronological order even when they are sorted alphabetically.

Have the date stated in the format as YYYY MM DD such as "2025 09 18"

For example, if I have a series of backups stored, the would appear as:

File 1 (Backup 2025 07 18, 06 16 AM).QBB

File 1 (Backup 2025 08 18, 06 16 AM).QBB

File 1 (Backup 2025 09 18, 06 16 AM).QBB

Currently they don’t sort this way because the months of the year are spelt out as words and so they don’t sort chronologically.

You can edit this name to whatever you want, during the backup process (at the β€œSave as” point) πŸ€”πŸ˜¬

    eg I will often shorten the name in the Backup & add β€œ … Pre-Rebuild 1 …”, β€œ … Pre-Rebuild 2 …” etc when doing the 3-x-Rebuild process.
I also always add β€œβ€¦ Pre-202x Upgrade …” to the one before upgrading too 😁

    Hi Shaz,

On the Hosted platform in my recent backup attempt did not provide for the ability to modify the backup file name.

You can modify the backup Options

    image.png image.png

You can set a location if preferred other than the default B: drive

    image.png

    You can only click Finish.

And the resulting file has the naming convention like below.

This is different to the local desktop Reckon Accounts Enterprise software.

If you can clarify what you do to go about changing the backup file name on the Hosted platform, that would be great to share.

Edit the file name afterwards by right-clicking on it in the B Backup drive, then press F2 to rename 😊

    Hi Shaz,

    That is indeed a workaround.

For the end-user who raised this issue with the Data Recovery as a side-question, they had wanted the functionality to be part of the general flow.

So less manual intervention on their part.

People have their own take on how things can be done and for their use-case, it is understandable why they would it that way.

Anything that can encourage users to maintain regular backups is something the Data Recovery Team would welcome.
