Windows 8.1, Internet Explorer and Quicken Personal Plus 2012 incompatibile

When running Quicken Personal Plus 2012 on Windows 8.1, if you try and simultaneously run Internet Explorer, the browser crashes repeatedly. This only happens with Quicken open, and appears to be due to integration of Quicken with the browser DLL's.

Is this a known issue / is there a fix or work-around (other than only opening one at a time or using another browser)? I need the browser open to access bank statements etc. for reconciling.

Thanks

    Hey Dale,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

This occurrence usually stems from Accounts Personal's (formerly Quicken) compatibility with win 8.1 and IE 11, which were released much later than Quicken Plus 2012.

The solutions are either to try an older version of IE, or run IE 11 as an older version through compatibility mode.

For more info on this and for steps see: http://kb.reckon.com.au/issue_view.asp?ID=5053

    Thanks,
    Mirko

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Quicken 2008 on Windows 8.1. I have Quicken Personal Plus 2008 (Australia) on my home desktop computer (Vista 32-bit) and, when travelling, on my netbook (Windows XP).  Ever since I started using Vista, Quicken fails to open about 50% of the time (the error message indicates a fatal error, and I have to close and reopen).  For the other 50%, Quicken opens at a screen that asks me whether I'm a new or experienced user, then a screen asking whether I want to open an existing file, then the screen asking me to select the file I want, and finally a password request.

When I open on the netbook on Windows XP, none of that happens and Quicken takes me straight (bypassing the password request) to my default file.  Why won't Quicken behave in the same way in Vista?

I now have a Windows 8.1 (64-bit) laptop to replace the 2 existing computers.  Will QPP 2008 run OK on Win 8.1 and will the Vista problem described above fix itself at last?

I don't understand why my question above was merged with a 3-month old conversation on an entirely different issue???

Aplogise Lindsay, it was merged with the wrong thread. It should have been merged here: https://community.reckon.com.au/reckon/topics/is_reckon_account_personal_plus_2013_compatible_with_6...
