Unable to open datafile in different "edition"
Wendy Hogan
Can I open a datafile from a client created using Quickbooks Premier 2012-13 manufacturing & wholesale edition in our "accountant" edition?

I have never had any problems in doing so.

I also have never had any problems doing this....
I am guessing that you will be restoring a backed up copy of their file? or a copy of their company file??? in your accountant edition 2014? you then can work/look around the file, and all is good, after you have finished you will have to manually enter or verbalize any changes necessary to be done to their copy.
but if this is the only copy of the company file, they will no longer be able to open it in their premier 2012-13.

Yes you can

I have multiple releases of Reckon Accountant installations on my PC so I can restore into the correct release, make changes, and then give back to the client. I prefer to have an Accountants Transfer File sent to me with an appropriate dividing date then I can export my changes and send to the client. Be careful with GST, it can cause errors when the transfer file is being imported back into client file.
