Uniform deductions from payroll

We provide uniforms to employees and charge the amount in instalments from their pay. I normally create deductions with a limit on each particular uniform item. Once the limit is reached the deduction stops but the problem arises when the same employee needs another uniform shirt for example.

I have tried to do the deduction again but the system tells me that it has already reached the limit for the shirt and would not charge the amount out of the salary.

Can you please help me to fix the issue.Thanks

Hi Atiya,

Try deleting the deduction from the employee's record and then adding it back in (but ensure you click ok in between to ensure it saves).

Even when I delete the old deduction and then add back a new one, info comes on screen which says, "the employee has already accrued $$on this payroll item. This amount will be applied towards the total limit for this item". Have I done something wrong while creating the deduction?

Hi Atiya,

Did you check to see if there is a default rate & limit in the applicable screen where you set up the payroll item?

Is the box on that same screen ticked for annual limit?

Try unticking, saving, retacking, etc. to see if that works?

Thanks it works if I actually tick the annual limit box. In this case, will the system start recalculating and deducting the amount automatically after a year even if the employee hasn't taken another uniform item.

Hi Atiya,

I believe that's what it should do, but I haven't tested it I'm afraid.

So perhaps get into the habit of removing it from their record when the deduction is finished to avoid that happening?

You would also need to be careful if it goes over an EOFY period i.e. June 30.
