How to change the payroll account setup - payroll liability
Xuan Ling
Our company converted to Reckon Accounts 2015 from MYOB in Feb 2015.
PAYG tax liability and superannuation liability are automatically recorded in 'payroll liability' account as individual and separate liabilities when we generate a salary payment.
The problem emerges when we try to record superannuation contribution or paid PAYG tax. it doesn't matter how much or when we enter an amount, the amount will always offset the liability from the very top.
Since PAYG tax payable and Superannuation payable are blended in one liability account, the amounts we entered are not always applied to the right liabilities.
I have created two sub-accounts under 'payroll liability' to separate PAYG tax and super. Could anyone tell me how to change the default account in payroll please?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Xuan Ling. Go to your Lists> Payroll Items. For the PAYG Tax item, edit it and when you get to "Agency for employee-paid liability" change the liability account to reflect the sub account that you have created, For Superannuation, you will need to do a similar edit to the Superannuation SGC payroll item. If you have created separate SGC payroll items, you will need to specify the Liability sub account for each one.
I have also set up separate Payroll Liability sub accounts for Salary Sacrifice Super and for Superannuation deductions. so that I can track them specifically as well..
