I wanted to know how to enter a Before tax item as a negative number..so it deducts from the gross amount before tax is applied.

Hi Ernie,

Set up a deduction type pay item with the check box checked:

Add the item to a pay run for your employee:


Tax is calculated on the gross amount after the deduction.

Thanks Sharon,  That worked out fine once I gave it an amount in the item.
