Backup documents have somehow all converted to adobe files that I cannot open. How to rectify

My backup files have all changed to Adobe pdf of their own accord.
I cannot open them.
How do I rectify this situation

You have probably accidentally changed windows to recognise the quicken files as pdfs.

Right click on the file.

Choose "open with"

Choose "choose another app"

Then find quicken and select it as the default app for these types of files.
