Cannot restore backup to company file says "read only"

I am having a problem restoring my backup file.

I archived old transactions however when I try and open my company file it says "This data file cannot be opened because it was in the process of removing old transactions but did not finish. Please restore your backup."

I have them tried to restore my backup to the company file but it wont allow me and keeps saying that the file is a read only file, try again with a different file name.

I should also note that this is a shared file.

    Change the name. I always add a date suffix. Overwriting your existing backup is not a safe practice if your backup gets corrupted
