Error when changing the Gen ledger account mapped to a Payroll Item

Hi All

Today I edited a payroll item to change the GL account it was mapped to.

It then shut Reckon down with an error. I opened Reckon and continued working.

During the nightly backup I got the msg "...detected a problem with your data file...Click Rebuild to make a local backup and fix your data file.

Can anyone tell me what this will do, as its a very large file and Im concerned about running Rebuild, and also concerned that the change I made may alter previous transactions with that payroll item.

The payroll item was Leave Loading. Thanks all. Leshelle

Have you identified from the log file that the issue is specifically related to that change? Background errors are very common & can happen due to an endless list of reasons but they are often transactional. I've not heard of changing a GL account link causing that before ?

The Rebuild simply fixes behind-the-scenes data corruptions, often undetectable by us users.

As part of the Rebuild process, RA will automatically prompt for/require you to make a Backup of your Company File but if you are concerned, make a copy of it anyway first :)

Ok thanks. I was prompted to run rebuild, but cancelled out and ran a non verified backup instead. How long does rebuild take on a large data file. I might have to run it overnight.

It varies immensely - Depending on file size & PC specs in can take anything from a minute to overnight 😳
