Syntax error

I am in the process of upgrading to 2023 and when restoring the portable backup file, I keep getting an error that says Syntax error near '-' on line 1.

I have tried this several times and of course no one is available at Reckon. Why they cannot provide additional support at the end of a financial year and when STP2 is being introduced I have no idea. We work 6 days a week and the last thing I want to do on a Sunday is spend it on a computer.

    Hi @CraigS

Unfortunately I can’t help with the syntax error but - if it’s specifically related to restoring the portable backup - can you not just upgrade the file as normal (rather than restoring the portable backup) ? 🤔

From a backup you mean ? The regular backup takes more than 12 hours so is ot an option.

The upgrade process normally involves backing up the file by default but this process can be overridden by hitting Esc as the backup commences. Note this is not normally recommended however as long as your file is well maintained (meaning regularly verified to ensure there are no data errors/corruptions), it should be fine.

When upgrading - after clicking on the Launch 2023 R1 - button & opening your Company File from there, it should prompt for the file to be updated - & will require you to just type “yes” to confirm this.
