Delete function

Is it possible to turn off the delete function? We have been informed by a 3rd party reporting provider that they can't pick up deleted transactions, so if we delete something, then this throws the reporting out.

    surely you only delete a transaction when it's either doubled up or some other mistake which means it's not part of the reporting.

    However you can see which transactions you have deleted in the Audit Trail report

    @ShelleyG

    Are you referring to restricting the ability of a logged in user to delete a transaction (such as an invoice, bill, cheque, journal, payments, etc)?

    If so, why are these transactions being deleted?

    Why would the deleted transactions 'throw reporting out'?

    You could consider making use of the function whereby you can set a password for a "Closing Date".

    This would prevent transactions older than a particular date from being deleted or modified, unless the user knows what that password is.

    Click on the Edit menu, select Preferences and go to the Accounting navigation section then the Company Preferences tab where you can set the Closing Date password.

    yes kind of. Apparently, even relates to invoice creation and bill entering, you may delete the line rather than modifying what you have already entered.

    The data for the 3rd party reporting gets uploaded on incremental loads based on a specific trail.  When a transaction is deleted in Reckon it does not leave the necessary β€˜trail’ to be recognised by the 3rd party system. I was hoping that there was a default setting somewhere that you could turn off the delete function, so that there was no possibility of it happening. Apparently you can turn the delete function off in MYOB.

    yes you can set a closing date but we are talking about current data as well.

    Thanks, that confirms my belief.
