I HAVE UPGRADED TO RECKON ACCOUNTS PERSONAL PLUS V31 FROM RECKON PERSONAL 2013. THE UPGRADE IS ON A NEW COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS 11. MY OLD DATA IS ON ANOTHER COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS 10. HOW DO I TRANSFER ALL MY DATA FROM THE OLD COMPUTER TO THE NEW COMPUTER? WHEN I TRIED TO BACKUP ON TO A USB STICK IT ADVISED THERE WAS AN ERROR CODE 6910 AND WOULD NOT PROCEED. I CAN ONLY USE THE INSTALLATION KEY CODE ONCE WHEN INSTALLING WHICH I HAVE DONE ON THE NEW COMPUTER, HELP PLEASE, THANKS

    Dear @Terrence ,

You cannot directly back up to USB from Reckon Accounts Personal Plus - however, you can copy the Backup from your computer to the USB, then to your new machine.

    To do this:

    1. Backup your file to the default Backup location (this should be C:\Users\<your username>\Documents\QUICKEN\Backup\).
    2. Right-click and Copy the Backup file (it should have the extension .RKN).
    3. Navigate to your USB, then right-click Paste the backup file.
    4. Transfer your USB to the new machine.
    5. On the new machine, make sure you Copy the backup and Paste it to the same location.

    Kind regards,

THANK YOU BOTH FOR YOUR QUICK RESPONSE TO MY ENQUIRY, MUCH APPRECIATED.

I HAVE A PROBLEM: I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO A BACKUP SINCE 23/02/2023! THE LAST TIME I TRIED IT CAME UP WITH A MESSAGE "RECKON HAS ENCOUNTERED A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE" AND AN ERROR CODE 6910 or 6919 or 6901.

I HAVE BEEN ENTERING DATA INTO A FILE SINCE THAT TIME WITH THE EXTENSION .QDF AND EXITING THE PROGRAM. ALL MY INFORMATION IS THERE GOING BACK TO 2014. UP TILL TODAY I'VE NOT LOST ANYTHING THANK GOODNESS!

ANY IDEAS HOW I CAN PROCEED WITH THE TRANSFER TO MY NEW COMPUTER? FINGERS CROSSED!

    THANKS, TERRY

    Dear @Terrence ,

There's a few things we can check here:

    1. What is the name of the file?
    2. Where is the file located?
    3. What is the size of the file?

Let me know as soon as you can.

    Kind regards,

    1 .Data File_201811091_20201013_20230223.QDF

    2. D:\Users\KandT\Documents\Quicken\BACKUP

    3. Size: 35.9MB

Are you able to interpret what the Error Codes 6910, 6919 and 6901 are?

    Thanks, Terry

    Dear @Terrence ,

    1. Can you rename your Data File? It's currently too long and this may cause issues (rename it to something like Terrence.QDF).
    2. Can you move the file to C:\Users\KantT\Documents\Quicken?
    3. This is quite large, but it's still within limits, so we can cross this off.

After you have performed steps 1 and 2, try and backup the file to:

    C:\Users\KantT\Documents\Quicken\BACKUP\

    Alexis, thank you so much!

I renamed the file, copied and pasted it from D: to C: drive, opened the file and performed a backup to C: drive and it worked! Now I'll perform the exercise of copying to the USB and transferring it to my new computer. I will let you know how it goes.

Many thanks once again, regards Terry

    Dear @Terrence ,

I'm glad you were able to get a backup of your file. 🙂

From here, you should be able to copy the backup to your USB, then move it to your new machine under the same location, and restore the backup.

If you have any issues, just let me know - I'm always happy to help.

    Alexis,

I backed up the .rkn file to the USB, copied it and pasted on the C: drive of my new computer. I have installed V31 on the new computer. As an existing customer do I just open Reckon in the normal way? Are there printed instructions as to how I open the file for the first time in the updated version of Personal Plus so that it brings up my previous records in the new format? I don't want to open it and possibly lose all my information. I'm not real computer savvy unfortunately.

    Thanks, Terry

Just open Reckon Personal as normal and then Restore the backup that's on the USB and save it to c: drive.

Your data should be as you left it.

    Thanks Gerry.

After a few hiccups I was able to restore the backup and have accessed the files with all my data transferred. I have also set up the automatic backup.

Once again thanks to everyone for assisting me with my problems, everything is now working fine on my new computer and I can get rid of the old one.

    Regards, Terry
