upgrading from old software

Just upgrading from Quicken 2002 SE to Reckon Accounts Personal Plus v31 (2025).

Have downloaded the new Reckon Accounts Personal Plus v31 (2025) software and registered.

I'm now at the point of opening the old Quicken 2002 SE data file in Reckon Accounts Personal Plus v31 (2025).

question: should I use a backup version or the data file?

You can open the file directly using the latest version of the software. However, since you’ll be accessing it in Reckon Accounts Personal Plus v31 (2025), the file will need to be upgraded to be compatible.

To be safe, we strongly recommend keeping a backup of the original file before proceeding.

quicken 2004 personal plus trial to quicken 2006 personal plus trial (need a temporary code for downloaded software)

Please try and access the file through the latest version. I believe you'll be able to open the file directly using Reckon Accounts Personal Plus v31 (2025).

I have tried this but it doesn't work.

the guide you linked me to clearly states that an upgrade of the data file via 2004 and 2006 versions is required

but I cant get access to the trial version of 2006 personal plus as the key code provided wont activate the file.

please advise
