Hi there

We are in the process of purchasing the company that I currently work for. As we are buying the business, this means that we are taking on the Reckon file. It is Reckon Accounts Enterprise. do we need to purchase a new license (we need 15 users) and copy across the current Reckon file, or does the current License Key get transferred into our name?

    Hi @nsmith

Whether the software licence transfers to you would likely depend on the details of your business purchase contract, such as if your purchase of the business includes things like the computers on which the Reckon Accounts Enterprise desktop software is currently installed.

If you have your own separate computers, then the Reckon Accounts software would need to be installed on them, and it would likely require the purchase of new licences.

Note: You would need your own copy of the QBW (Company Data File) itself, provided by the original business owner.

One thing to consider is that you ensure that you are made aware of the data file password for the "Admin" user when the data file is transferred to you.

Confirm that you are able to login to the data file as the username "Admin" with that known password.
