Reportable superannuation

Morning,

An employee of a client has called questioning the amount of reportable super on his Income Statement per the ATO. The amount reported to the ATO is the same as Type R in Reckon STP, but the amount listed as Type L is the full amount accrued and paid for the financial year?

My questions are:

  1. Why are they reporting as two separate Types?
  2. Why would only Type R be reported to the ATO?

    Thanks Tanvi, the amount the ATO have as reportable is $8523.00, so this is all fine. Thank you! The employee had me muffed!!
