Frequently used payee does not appear in report Payee list

I'm using Quicken Personal Plus 2008 Australian Edition. I know it's old, but I hope this query will ring a bell with someone.

I'm using a simple report of all payments to a specified payee. I've been using it for years and never had a problem. There's one payee (say FHF) to which I've made regular payments over many years. I've not used the report for this payee for about 4 years, but it worked fine last time. Now when I Customize the report and go to the Payees tab, this particular payee does not appear in the Payee list, and I've not been able to generate the report in any other way. Other payees appear in the Payee list, just not this one. Grateful for any help/ideas/solutions.

Can you explain exactly how you are generating the payee report and the exact name of the report please

Maybe perform a Validate function? But, do a Backup beforehand, .. in case!?

Robyn, it's a saved report (listing amounts paid to a specified payee over the years, with totals by financial year) that I've been using for many years. So I pull up the saved report > Customise to change the payee name (using the Payees tab and choosing the payee from the Payee list) and date range > check that the right Accounts and Categories have been selected (for this series of reports, they rarely change) > OK to generate the report. This works fine for other payees that are in the Payee list, but one payee (which has a similar payment pattern to others that are in the Payee list) is not in the Payee list and I cannot generate a report for that payee. Hope this is all clear, and if you can help, I'll be very grateful.

So steps I would take-

Take note of your Net Worth value showing in your file.
Perform a Backup. File > Backup > [directory of your choice]. NOTE: I suggest, in the Backup dialogue box, that you check the option to perform the backup to a .rkn file.
Perform a Validate- File > File Operations > Validate > [select your working file]
Check if your specified payee reports run correctly now. If not, then -
Perform a Super Validate- File > File Operations > CTRL+SHIFT+Validate > [select your working file].
Then, again, I would see if your specified payee reports run correctly.
Also, check whether your Net Worth value has changed. Hopefully, you don't see a change at all, as that may suggest other issues!🤞

@Lindsay Graham I would create a new report and filter by the payee name

Reports > Spending > Spending by Payee and Customise the report to only tick that payee name and see what happens. Re save the report if that one works.

Just interested in what you think of my suggestion above. I'm always keen to get the comments/feedback of those 'in the know'.

Also, I think your latest suggestion makes sense, too….another angle to come from in getting to the bottom of the problem.👍…at the same time, introducing Lindsay to new RPP tools to deal with issues.

Validate & Super Validate do have their pros for sure. In this instance becuase Lindsay could generate the report for other payees I believe it was more around the saved report and its customisation / filter options so always best to start a new report from fresh again.

Another option is to go to the register and "Find" transactions for a particular payee and then click "Find all". Just another way of trying to create a report without customisation / filters.
