There are 2 things that would be great to have available in Reckon One Payroll
Hey @SarahWBC
Thanks for raising this idea and would be keen to get more details from you 🙂
How many employees do you currently include in your pay runs?
Also, just checking, have you switched over to our new pay run experience (info here), its built for faster input, less clicks and is a lot more intuitive than the classic experience.
Is there anything in particular that you're finding challenging at the moment?
Hi @Rav, our pay runs can be in the range of 150-200 employees at a time, hence the reason for wanting to be able to upload a CSV file. We have switched over to the new pay run experience, but when you are manually entering data for this many employees, it is still extremely time consuming. The challenge is the time that it takes, you can't tab through to next employee etc, there is a lot of mouse work still needed rather than mainly keyboard being able to tab through. As above, when entering data for 150-200 casual employees who never have the same hours & bonuses etc it is very time consuming.
That's fair enough and good feedback, thanks @SarahWBC.
Certainly a lot of employees to get through particularly if they don't have consistent hours/items/pay from one pay run to the next.
Are you using any features at the moment to group employees and prefill their details where possible such as Pay Setup, Pay Schedules or Pay Templates?
Hi @Rav, we use Reckon One for 4 payroll companies, in 2 of these I do use Pay Schedules as they are used for permanent employees, in the other 2 companies I don't as it is not necessary as they are all on the same pay set up etc, although I am ken to hear if you believe this would help my upload issue.
It sounds like you're already on the right track.
The reason I was asking was, we do have the Pay Setup feature which allows you to add pay items (and rates if applicable) to individual employee profiles. That way, when you create a pay run, the items that are applicable to that employee will be prefilled for you and if/where required you can just edit the rate or hours.
In all likelihood, you're probably already using this but in the off-chance that you're not, here's an example of what it looks like where I've added certain pay items to my employee. In this case I've overridden their usual pay rate so that it defaults to $0.00 in the pay run, allowing me to just enter in the rate/hours.
You don't have to override the rate/hours where needed so they could be prefilled as well, that was just my example. I know that's not exactly what you need and/or the intention of this idea but just wanted to flag with you in case it might help reduce a little bit of data input for you.
We also have a separate feature called Pay Templates which is more geared toward setting up dedicated Pay Templates for specific Employment Agreements (such as awards) that operate in a similar way. There's some info on this HERE.
Hi @Rav thanks for trying to find solutions, unfortunately it is no different to what I am currently doing. I have watched the pay template video attached also, unfortunately this also doesn't change much from what we are currently doing, it will still mean all the manual entry will need to happen to run the pay run
